Best Games Of The Decade!

2000 - 2009

The decade of 2000-2009 marked a significant evolution in the video game industry, characterized by the dominance of 3D graphics, the rise of online gaming, and the introduction of new console technologies. The sixth generation of consoles, including the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube, ushered in an era of high-quality 3D gaming. Hack-and-slash games and survival horror games like God of War and Resident Evil 4 gained immense popularity, showcasing the growing trend of realism and atmosphere. Console-based first-person shooters also experienced a boom, further solidifying their place in the gaming landscape. This period also saw Microsoft enter the console hardware market with the Xbox, aiming to compete with Sony's PlayStation. Nintendo, however, distinguished itself by focusing on innovative gameplay, particularly with the Wii, which introduced motion-sensing controls and expanded the gaming audience. The decade concluded with the emergence of new franchises like God of War and Halo. Overall, the 2000s laid the foundation for many of the innovations and trends seen in the subsequent decades of gaming. The PlayStation 2 is still to this day the best-selling video game console in the world. And that was not because it was the best console with the best library of games out there (even though some people would argue that it had a stacked library of games of all different genres) but because it was the cheapest DVD player that you could buy at the time because the PS2 games did not sell enough copies relative to the popularity of the system.
